Enjoy hiking and cycling routes in one of the most emblematic mountains of Catalonia.
The Pedraforca (2.506m), along with the Canigó or the Pica d’Estats, is one of the greatest symbols of Catalan mountaineering. Found in the Berguedà region, within Barcelona’s pre-Pyrenees, this attractive and emblematic mountain captures hikers and general tourists due to its peculiar horseshoe shape and the numerous tales that talk about it. Therefore, it has gained its nickname “The Magic Mountain”. Formed by two twin peaks, its walls have become a huge challenge for the best European climbers.
The Natural Area of National Interest of the Pedraforca Massif has an area of 1.750 ha and is part of two municipalities of the Berguedà region.
Come to Pedraforca and discover nature through its trails, enjoy its facilities and take part in the activities that are organized in the different geological, botanical, faunal, and cultural interest areas.

WHAT CAN I DO
We propose 3 different ways to explore this emblematic mountain:
1. Pedraforca, the Pyrenees history written on its rocks: All the key points of the Pedraforca environment have been selected for this divulging itinerary, with the aim of explaining its formation and getting to know the geological richness of the area in an enjoyable manner. Some of the curiosities you will be able to observe are: dinosaur footsteps, the formation of Pedraforca and the Pyrenees, carbon from 60 million years ago, Karst source and Hippurites fossils amongst others.
2. Guided trek to the Magic Mountain of Pedraforca: There are many itineraries to access Pedraforca, but in this case the proposed itinerary will lead us to the summit of the Pollegó Superior del Pedraforca (2,506m) from the beautiful village of Gósol. Going up through the Serra de la Tossa and the Gósol scree, this will allow for the discovery of beautiful landscapes as well as the secrets of this emblematic mountain. From the summit you will enjoy the views of the pre-Pyrenees and the Pyrenees: the Cadí Serra, the Gallina Pelada, Port del Comte massif, Verd Serra, Cerdanya, Andorra…
3. Pedals of Pedraforca: This is a self-guided mountain bike route along mountain roads and tracks. It is a round itinerary with start and finish at Gósol (Lleida), which takes advantages of the rural tourist infrastructure of the area. It goes through three regions: Berguedà, Solsonès and Alt Urgell.
