Authentic experiences with the shepherds, the fl ock and the wool.
What better experience in nature than living the life of a shepherd for a day?
In one of the most impressive mountain landscapes of the National Park of Aigüestortes and Sant Maurici you will be able to share the daily chores of an authentic mountain shepherd. From getting to know the flocks of sheep in their pilgrimage through the fields to listening to the thousand and one anecdotes and stories that will help you understand what the lonely life of a shepherd is like and the difficulties of living with cattle.
Among those herds of sheep is the curious sheep “Xisqueta”. Extremely sober Catalan breed that survives in harsh environments such as the Pyrenees. This sheep already lived in the peninsula 5,000 years ago. But in the middle of the 20th century, this race suffered a gradual decline, almost disappearing. Nowadays, thanks to the Xisqueta, this sheep is once again grazing in the Pyrenean forests.
