WHAT CAN I DO
“Les Muntanyes de la Llibertat”: At the end of 1942 the communication routes between France and Spain were strictly monitored. The border crossing had to be traveled on foot through unknown mountains without preparation or equipment. These factors led to three heroic routes: Chemin de la Lliberté (Port of Clavera), Coma Gireta and Port de Guiló, which can be explored on foot in a very personal memory tourism experience.
“Perseguit i salvats”: Prosecuted and saved is a project that represents the recovery of Catalan routes of flight of the Jewish people during the Second World War. There are four signposted routes that run through the regions of Val de Aran and Alta Ribagorça, Pallars Sobirà, Alt Urgell and Cerdanya.
Shelter-museum “Camí de llibertat”: The old prison of Sort, converted into a museum, wants to contribute into history recovery and honour the memory of those who, fleeing the European dictatorships of the 20th century, crossed the border in search of peace and freedom.
Bunkers: During the Postwar period the “P line” was built in the Pyrenees, a defensive line of military fortifications to stop a supposed military invasion that could enter the mountains. You can visit different bunkers in the towns of Guingueta d’Àneu and Ribera de Cardós. You can also visit the bunkers of Vilamur, Baladredo (Llavorsí) and Pedres de Auló (Roní) that belonged to the national front of the Spanish Civil War.
