Discover the Pyrenees through literature.
Revive the path taken by the famous writers Camilo José Cela and Josep María Espinàs and discover how the Pyrenees were 50 years ago.
In August of 1956, the writers made a trip to the Pallars Jussà, the Pallars Sobirà, the Val d’Aran and the Alta Ribagorça. Their experiences were reflected in two books. The Catalan writer and journalist Espinàs published “Viatge al Pirineu de Lleida”, and the Nobel Prize Winner Cela “Viaje al Pirineo de Lérida”. More than half a century ago, they both fell in love with the Pyrenees of Lleida.
These two books arose from the fascination they felt, which are a personal reflection of an era of this Catalan territory. A time of change and transformation, but the landscapes, the people and the roads continue to be like more than half a century ago.

WHAT CAN I DO
We propose to revive the literary journey made by Camilo José Cela and Josep María Espinàs more than 50 years ago which will allow you to know without a doubt how the Pyrenees were at that time.
The crossing “Ramat de Camins” begins in the Font de la Figuereta in the Pallars Jussà and finishes in Pont de Suert after 15 days and approximately 314 km in which you will be able to walk on old footpaths or forest tracks, trails traveled by the country’s people before roads and cars were born, making them feasible routes for almost everyone.
These literary routes pass through areas of great natural and landscape richness, along with the visit to the 70 villages through which the route passes. Towns that were part of that journey and still retain many of the common places they mention in their works, and in which you can enjoy gastronomy, heritage and authentic traditions and which in many cases have remained unchanged over the years.
If you do not have the 15 days to complete the whole trip, or hiking is not your sport, “Ramat de Camins” proposes you to do it in different stages, alone or on a donkey, on foot or by bicycle, sleeping in hostels or camping... Any modality is possible in this route that will take you to meet the most authentic Pyrenees.
If you are looking for a more traditional mode, you can choose 3 donkey routes that will allow you to experience the life of the carters, the people who are in charge of transporting the goods with pack animals.
