Get to know the Llobregat river, a journey through history.
“Llobregat amunt, Llobregat avall”, - Up the Llobregat, down the Llobregat- oﬀers a route to get to know the importance of the Llobregat river during the industrial revolution of Catalonia.
Meet and visit the ﬁrst part of the Camí of Llobregat, combining diﬀerent modes of transportation, including the train of the “Ciment”, formerly used to transport cement from the Clot del Moro factory to Guardiola de Berguedà, where it continued onto the Catalan Railroads. Enjoy in a convenient and straight forward way, the combination of nature, culture and history!
The route starts at the source of the Llobregat river at an altitude of 1.259 meters, in the beautiful municipality of Castellar de n’Hug, and can be completed with some of the cultural visits found along the way. From the start of the route you will be able to enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery that is are the Barcelonan Pyrenees.
The tour is completely downhill, and even if the source of the river in the Llobregat Fountains is the most important point, the rest of the route is equally enchanting, passing through forests along rivers until the end of the itinerary.

WHAT CAN I DO
The options are diverse, we can take a small excursion from the picturesque village of Castellar de n’Hug to the Llobregat Sources and then return to the town and visit the Shepherd Museum.
If you are very mountaineer, you can extend the trip to the Asland Cement Museum, in Clot del Moro. The Cement Museum is connected to the Gardens of Artigas, the work of Gaudí and the Pobla de Lillet through the Cement Train or Tourist Railway of Alt Llobregat.
You cannot miss the following visits:
• Visit the Museum of the Castellar de n’Hug Shepherd, where a review of the past, present and future of this hard labour, which is honoured every summer in the International Shepherd Dogs Contest.
• Visit the church of Sant Vicenç de Rus, whose construction dates to the early twelfth century.
• Visit the Asland Cement Museum in Castellar de n’Hug, where you can visit the Asland cement factory, which was closed for 30 years but has now been converted to a museum and interpretation centre, spectacularly manifesting one of the most incredible manufacturing sets of Catalan industrialization.
• Visit the Artigas Gardens, designed by Gaudi as a proof of gratitude after his stay at the Artigas’s house, owners of one of the most prosperous factories of the time in the Llitet Valley, work where nature and architecture merge in perfect harmony.
