Discover the source of the Ter river on a chairlift.
Discover the source of the Ter river located in the heart of the “Parc Natural de les Capcaleres del Ter i Freser” through access by a chairlift from Vallter 2000 ski resort, which in summer trades its white landscape by the green of its mountains, becoming a perfect scenario for family trekking, as it has routes with difficulty levels suitable for all levels.
The Vallter 2000 station is located in the glacial circus of Morens - Ulldeter (Oriental Pyrenees), a situation that allows you to enjoy landscapes as unique and exceptional as the views it provides on the Bay of Roses in the Costa Brava, and the territories of Ripollès, Garrotxa, Pla de l’Estany, Baix and Alt Empordà.
One of the essential visits of the area is the source of the Ter river, at 2.480 meters of altitude, where water coming from the snow that covers the peaks that surround the glacier circus during a good part of the year resurfaces, and that after crossing 200 km, flows into the Mediterranean Sea and specifically in Torroella de Montgrí, in front of the Medas Islands.

WHAT CAN I DO
If you want to see the source of this important and mighty Catalan river, driver of Catalan industrialization through the construction of numerous industrial colonies near its channel, you can easily do it from the chairlift.
After a 20-minute chairlift ride, access to the source of the Ter river is a pleasant experience in nature for families, even for the youngest ones. High mountain glacier landscapes and black pine forests surround a river, which appears to be like any other mountain stream in this stretch near its source, but gives off an atmosphere that makes it different and magical.
The birth of the Ter river is located just 150 meters from the chairlift. From there we can take different itineraries, some of low difficulty to access the base of the station, but also others of more difficulty for the more adventurous who can get to emblematic summits of the area such as: Bastiments (2,874 meters), Coll de la Marrana and Gra de Fajol (2,708 meters).
