Our company offers a series of mountain treks through the Pallars Sobirà region and in some parts of the French Ariège, in the Alt Pirineu Natural Park and Ariège Regional Natural Park. The treks are aimed at people who are used to mountain hiking and long walks. Launched in 2004, La Porta del Cel (The Heaven’s door) trek is now crossed by 600 people a year who spend the night in the 5 mountain huts and hotels of Tavascan. Muntanyes de Llibertat (Mountains of Freedom) trek started is 2015 with similar characteristics and is now enjoyed by around 100 people a year.

This 5-day trek will almost take you to heaven as you will reach the highest peak in Catalonia, La Pica d’Estats (3143 m), Certascan, La Pointe Recou and Roca Cigalera. The colour of the lakes is a wonderful reflection of the sky. From the amazing Certascan, the biggest natural lake in the Pyrenees, you will walk around many others such as Sotllo, Pinet, Blaus, Romedos, etc. You will spend the nights in 4 mountain huts and have the option to start and finish your stay in the middle of nature at a hotel in Tavascan.

This trek crosses the wonderful landscapes of both Alt Pirineu Natural Park, in Pallars Sobirà region, and Ariège Natural Park: deciduous and Atlantic woodlands, Alpine meadows and endless wild lakes and mountains that host a wide range of flora and wildlife species. Apart from their natural charms, these paths were the scenes of some people’s history: the Jews fleeing holocaust, and the Republicans. A dramatic human history that allowed some to escape from death. This is the historical context this trek must be done, in order to pay tribute to all the people who had to go through persecutions, economical scarcity or other harms that forced them to cross those Pyrenean passes.
