L’Olivera is a cooperative company based on social initiative that grows vineyards and olive trees and produces organic wines and olive oils integrating disadvantaged people in the whole process and using its skills in favour of a common project.
The project got started in 1974 in Vallbona de les Monges, in the non-irrigated parts of Interior Catalonia, when a group of people decided to settle down in the village in order to create a life and work community which both integrated disadvantaged people and offered an economic solution using local forces; a project of “social and solidarity economy”, as it is called.
The production project relies on the social dimension: a human-scale project focused on people. As interpreters of the earth, we practice organic farming in order to take up the challenge of making products of our agrarian heritage that reflect its soil and its people.
